STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — For as long as she can remember, Jordie McFarquhar has always been in love with fashion. But as a plus-size individual who favors form-fitting silhouettes and solid colors, she concedes that fashion hasn’t always loved her back.
“Plus size clothing is never sleek, chic or curated,” McFarquhar said. “I feel like we get the leftovers, these floral dresses and big patterns that are meant to conceal our bodies. But that’s not necessarily how we want to dress. We want to look good, not frumpy. And I just don’t see any options like that in any store I shop in.”
So McFarquhar, a 26-year-old Dongan Hills resident who works as an assistant designer for the Target brand Wild Fable, is launching her own plus-size fashion…
