The Joseph and Florence Mandel Jewish Day School in Beachwood received a $12.75 million gift from the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Supporting Foundation to expand the building by 8,000 square feet and to transform parts of the school that were not previously renovated.
Total construction cost is $17.5 million with part of the balance already raised by the school.
“The gift is not only transformational but it also represents a huge boost of confidence in our institution – I would say in our leadership,” Head of School Jay Leberman, told the Cleveland Jewish News Nov. 30. “And when I say leadership, that includes lay leadership, our professional senior leadership and our teachers.”
