Fairfax County Voter Guide: What You Need to Know for Election Day

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8, and three congressional races and the Town of Herndon council and mayor are one the ballot. Here’s what you need to know about how and where to vote.

VOTING ON ELECTION DAY, NOV. 8

Every polling place will be open on Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.  If you are in line by 7 p.m., you will be able to vote.

Before you vote, double-check your registration status, polling place and congressional district. You can look up this information on the state’s online portal, or call the Office of Elections at 703-222-0776, TTY 711.

WHAT TO BRING WHEN VOTING EARLY

By law, voters must show identification when they vote — but a photo ID, like a driver’s license, is no longer required. You may use as ID a copy of your:

  • Current utility bill.
  • Bank statement.
  • Government check.
  • Paycheck.
  • Other government document with the voter’s name and…
