Future of 3D printing comes to UNH E center – News – seacoastonline.com

DURHAM – A crystal ball peek at the future of 3D printing and its future applications in manufacturing can be found on Madbury Road.

Newly created at 21 Madbury Road – inside the new Madbury Commons building – is the Peter T. Paul Entrepreneurship Center, the E Center, for short, created by the University of New Hampshire to encourage and foster new innovations.

And within the E Center is an equally-as-new area called a “makerspace” that contains a 3D printer.

To E Center director Ian Grant, the availability of the printer could provide a UNH student with what he calls “that eureka moment.”

“It may take them down that path: You build one thing and its starts that question of ‘What can I do next?’ I think that’s really profound,” Grant said.

The makerspace, currently in its first phase of development, contains three machines on which students can tinker,…
