Yeti has a new set of paws.
With the help of three Southern Utah University engineering students, Yeti, a rescue dog from Best Friends Animal Society, has been fitted with prosthetics legs.
Yeti needed prosthetic legs for his back paws when he came to Bests Friends. Yeti was adopted by Leslie Carney and her son in August 2020 but it wasn’t until early spring semester that the three SUU students began to work on models for Yeti’s back legs.
SUU and Best Friends Animal Society have been partnered for roughly a year, said David Bishop, director of public relations at SUU.
The goal is to give credits to students helping with projects like these. Engineering students Morgan Hansen, Najilah Jones, and Cierra Salcido began working together once they heard Yeti’s story.
