Worcester Face Shield Project aiding coronavirus fight by making needed PPE – News – telegram.com

WORCESTER — By their very nature, makerspaces are used to creating and sharing resources, and in light of the global COVID-19 pandemic, a group of locals are combining their talents and tools to manufacture much-needed face shields for those who work in the medical field.

Collectively, the group is known as the Worcester Face Shield Project, and it is a combined effort of Technocopia, led by Lauren Monroe, co-executive director and president of Technocopia; Worcester Center for Crafts, under Executive Director Elaine McKenna-Yeaw; Cotyledon Farms, run by Amanda Barker; and Ferromorphics Blacksmithing, owned by Joshua Swalec.

Using equipment, workspace, and staff in the arts and skilled trades, the group has made nearly 2,000 face shields, but it’s their hope that with additional funding and donations, they can manufacture even more personal protective equipment…
