Elaine McKenna-Yeaw has had an eventful first year leading the Worcester Center for Crafts. Amid a global pandemic, WCC has continued to fulfill its mission of supporting and connecting the community through craft. Can you start by telling me about your career trajectory and what led you to the Worcester Center for Crafts?

I’ve been in nonprofit administration for about 30 years. I started a nonprofit visual and performing arts center in Rhode Island called Artists Exchange, which is still running. When my husband and I were considering moving to Massachusetts, I looked to see if there was something comparable because I loved my old job. Sure enough, I saw the listing at Worcester Center for Crafts; I applied and the rest is history. That was about a year ago.
