Alcova Elementary, Five Other Gwinnett Schools Get STEM Grants

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA — A Dacula elementary school and five other Gwinnett County schools have received almost $50,000 in Bosch STEM grants to help fund science and math education.

Alcova Elementary School received $10,000 — the largest of the six grants — to support an outdoor classroom that would include raised beds for growing and harvesting vegetables, fruit trees, plants that promote pollination, and conservation resources such as compost bins and rain barrels.

Other schools that received Bosch STEM grants were:

  • Mill Creek High School, Hoschton, $8,000 — funding for rocket kits, EVO kits, VEX Mechatronics kits, Arduino Uno Starter kits, KNEX renewable energy set, water and soil testing kits, and teacher instruction.
  • Osborne Middle School, Hoschton, $8,000 — funding for Hand2mind makerspace carts and MooreCo dry erase desks.
