Strand Center for the Arts finishing up revitalization initiative

The Strand Center for the Arts in Plattsburgh has been undergoing a major transformation this year, as improvements are starting to wrap up. The Strand was allocated more than $750,000 as part of the state’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative back in 2017. Construction started in January.As you revisit the theatre post its pandemic pause, board president Tom McNichols believes it’s better than ever, especially since you last saw it. McNichols said improvements have been made to the orchestra pit, and the theatre now has brand new carpeting and a new guard rail on the balcony for increased safety. The theatre launched summer camp programming a few weeks ago, and large, live performances are coming back to the theatre soon. “Those restrictions just recently lifted, so that programming will begin again late August and into the fall,” McNichols said.The building at 23 Brinkerhoff…
